Kyiv, Ukraine – Ukraine’s military claims to have made progress in its counteroffensive against Russian forces, making inroads at several points along the front line.

In an exclusive interview with Sky News Arabia on Friday, Ukrainian Defense Advisor Yuri Sak said that his country’s forces had succeeded in penetrating Russian lines of defense in several areas.

“We are making some breakthroughs in these lines, and we are exploiting them,” Sak said. “We hope for further progress in the near future.”

Sak also said that Ukrainian forces were developing their own weapons systems, including a new long-range missile that can strike targets up to 1,000 kilometers away.

“We are producing some missiles that can hit targets at a distance of 1,000 kilometers,” Sak said. “This is a very long distance, and it will give us a significant advantage in the conflict.”

The Ukrainian military’s claims come as the war in Ukraine enters its sixth month. Russia has made significant gains in the eastern Donbas region, but Ukrainian forces have mounted a fierce resistance, and the fighting has been costly for both sides.

Sak said that Ukraine was committed to liberating all of its territory from Russian occupation.

“Our main goal is to drive the Russians out and completely liberate Ukrainian territory,” Sak said. “We will continue to fight until we achieve that goal.”

Additional Details:

  • Sak said that Ukrainian forces were targeting Russian supply lines and command centers in their counteroffensive.
  • He also said that Ukraine was working to improve its air defenses, which have been under heavy pressure from Russian airstrikes.
  • Sak thanked Western allies for their support, but he said that more weapons and ammunition were needed to sustain Ukraine’s resistance.

The Ukrainian military’s claims of progress in its counteroffensive are a welcome development for Kyiv, but it is too early to say whether they will be sustainable. The Russian military is still a powerful force, and it is unlikely to give up its gains in the Donbas without a fight.

The development of long-range missiles by Ukraine is a significant technological advancement that could give the country a strategic advantage in the war. However, it is unclear how many of these missiles Ukraine has in its arsenal, and it is also possible that Russia could develop its own counter-measures.

The war in Ukraine is likely to drag on for some time, and it is unclear how it will ultimately be resolved. However, the Ukrainian military’s resilience and determination have shown that Kyiv is not going to give up without a fight.
