The FBI arrested “Michael Noggin”, 67, after he attempted to steal only $650 from a Bank of America in Hollywood in order to pay his rent and avoid homelessness on the city’s streets.
Incident details:-
Noggin appeared on the security cameras, waiting for his turn for the cashier to come, when one of the money changers told “Noggin” that she would help him in a moment, and when the man approached, the money changer asked for his card, and he answered in a serious voice, “I have a gun, put all the money in the bag”, according to what the Metro newspaper reported.
Meanwhile, “Noggin” placed a brown plastic shopping bag under the protective glass towards the cashier. He added menacingly, “I don’t play, I have a gun, put the money in the bag”.
When the teller did not see a gun, she began closing the money drawer, and two other tellers, who heard what the man said, began to lock their money drawers and activate the emergency alarm.
When the tellers began to retreat in fear, “Noggin” snatched his bag from under the protective glass and fled from the bank through the emergency exit in an unknown direction.
The police found Nojeen:-
Later in the afternoon of August 24, a tipster recognized “Noggin” from photos of the bank robbery in news reports and told cops the address of the “Hallandale Beach” halfway house where he was staying.
In the evening, after his arrest, the man confessed to robbing the bank in order to collect enough money to pay the rent for his house so that he would not lose the right to reside there.
He considered it “his last chance to get $650 before he became homeless”, the police report said.
“Noggin” was charged with “attempting to intentionally seize federal funds through intimidation”, and he will be brought before a federal court later, with the possibility that prison will become his refuge after that.
