Four people were killed in a head-on crash between a car and a truck in Victoria’s north-east on Thursday morning.
The crash happened at an intersection on the Hume Highway at Chiltern at around 10:30 a.m.
All four people inside the sedan were killed. The 30-year-old driver of the B-double truck suffered non-life threatening injuries and has been taken to hospital.
The circumstances surrounding the collision are under investigation. Detectives from the major collision investigation unit were on their way to the scene, which is about three-and-a-half hours from Melbourne.
The road was closed for several hours while the scene was cleared.
The crash is a tragic reminder of the dangers of driving. Police are urging motorists to be careful and to obey the road rules.
The names of the deceased have not yet been released.
