Libyan Foreign Minister Naji al-Mingoush Suspended Pending Investigation after Controversial Meeting with Israeli Counterpart
The Prime Minister of the Libyan Government of National Unity Abdul Hamid Dbeibah has suspended the country’s Foreign Minister Najla al-Mingoush, and ordered an investigation into her actions.
This decision comes after a request from the Libyan Presidential Council for clarification regarding a meeting between al-Mingoush and the Israeli Foreign Minister in Rome.
In a letter addressed to the Prime Minister, spokesperson for the Presidential Council Najwa Heba demanded a detailed explanation of the meeting. Following this request al-Mingoush was immediately suspended from her duties and referred for investigation.
In the meantime the Prime Minister has designated the Minister of Youth and Sports, Fathi Al-Zayni, as the interim head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
