The Russian Civil Aviation Authority announced that the commander of the Wagner Special Military Group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, was among the passengers of the private plane, which crashed earlier, while he was on a domestic flight from Moscow to St. Petersburg, and confirmed that all 10 people on board were killed as a result of the accident.

According to the New York Times, the most notable information about Russia’s Wagner Special Military Group includes:

  1. Russian paramilitary organization.
  2. Some have described it as a private military company, or a private agency for military contracting.
  3. The group’s fighters participated in various conflicts, including operations in the Syrian civil war from 2014 to 2015, and in the war in Donbass, Ukraine.
  4. Independent, undercover under the supervision of the Russian Ministry of Defense or the Main Intelligence Directorate.
  5. Used by the Russian government in conflicts that require denial.
  6. Its forces are trained on the facilities of the Ministry of Defense.

 

News of the death of the leader of the Russian Wagner Group

Russian reports said the plane crashed on a flight from Moscow to St. Petersburg, and the Russian Emergencies Ministry said that all people on board, including three crew members, died in the crash, and said that the name of the Wagner commander was among the passengers on the plane.
