Ukrainian Forces Strike Donetsk 41 Times, Prompting Further Aid Support and Calls for Strengthened Defences
In a recent development, Ukrainian forces launched a staggering 41 attacks on the Donetsk region, employing a diverse range of ammunition including 152mm and 155mm artillery. The intense strikes resulted in the injury of seven civilians, including a six-year-old child as reported by Russian news agency Ria Novosti.
Meanwhile President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed gratitude towards Washington for their latest package of assistance. In his daily evening address, Zelensky mentioned the provision of ammunition such as Patriot air defense systems and Hymars and Javelin missiles, according to Arabiya news channel.
Notably President Zelensky had earlier indicated the need for increased collaboration with Kyiv’s partners to bolster the country’s defense capabilities in the near future.
German Finance Minister Christian Lindner spoke from the Ukrainian capital Kyiv acknowledging the realistic demand for the provision of long-range anti-ship missiles to support Kyiv during counter-offensive operations. He further emphasized the necessity of swift consideration of procedural steps if certain criteria are met namely coordination with allies, Berlin’s non-involvement in the crisis, and ensuring that it does not impede Germany’s self-defense as reported by Russian news network Russia Today.
Lindner also stated in an interview with German newspaper Bild that the imperative lies in observing the required procedural measures quickly should the three criteria be met. He believes that if these conditions are fulfilled such a decision can be made to aid Ukraine’s capabilities for self-defense.
