Who wins this year’s Nobel Peace Prize? Wars and crises that may obscure them

Experts have said it is difficult to make fun of who will win the Nobel Peace Prize this year, in light of the ongoing war in Ukraine, events in some African countries, worsening geopolitical hotbeds in the world, and a crippled international family, according to the Secretary-General of the United Nations.

Not much peace was made in the world in 2023

According to Al-Arabiya, the number of wars currently is twice the number of wars in 2010, and the director of the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute spoke about what he called an unfortunate reality, pointing out that he did not make much peace in the world in 2023.

The Nobel Committee in Oslo received 305 nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize, including 212 individuals and 93 organizations, while speculation emerged that the leading nominees were Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Some predicted that the Nobel Peace Prize would be withheld this year

Russian dissident of Putin Alexei Navalny, journalist Vladimir Kara Murza, Myanmar’s ambassador to the UN, Kyaw Moe Tun and NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg are also among the leading candidates.

While some expected the withholding of the Nobel Peace Prize this year, having already taken this decision in 1972, the Nobel Committee does not favor such an option, considering it an admission of failure.
