The Nobel Committee in Oslo received 305 nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize, including 212 individuals and 93 organizations, while speculation emerged that the leading nominees were Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Some predicted that the Nobel Peace Prize would be withheld this year
Russian dissident of Putin Alexei Navalny, journalist Vladimir Kara Murza, Myanmar’s ambassador to the UN, Kyaw Moe Tun and NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg are also among the leading candidates.
While some expected the withholding of the Nobel Peace Prize this year, having already taken this decision in 1972, the Nobel Committee does not favor such an option, considering it an admission of failure.
