According to a statement from the Syrian Interior Ministry, local police in the Al-Asharah district of Deir al-Zor received a tip-off about a murder in a residential area. Rapidly responding to the alert, the patrol teams arrived at the mentioned house to find an unimaginable scene. The statement went on to describe the victims as two adult females, one elderly, and a four-year-old child.

Medical examination of the deceased revealed blunt force trauma to the head as the cause of death. Remarkably, no signs of a struggle were evident at the crime scene. Police identified the bodies as those of a mother and her daughter.

Following an intensive investigation and information gathering, the suspicions turned toward the son of one of the deceased, identified as Khader J., who has a known history of drug abuse. A manhunt ensued, culminating in his capture in an abandoned building near the crime scene.

Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to the killings. He told authorities he attacked his family members with a rock while they slept, citing personal disputes as the motive. Furthermore, he admitted to killing his young daughter as an act of revenge against his divorced wife, disclosing plans to flee Syria thereafter.

The Interior Ministry concluded its statement by affirming that investigations are still ongoing and that the accused will be brought before the appropriate judicial body for a just punishment.
