Dutch seismologist warns of powerful earthquake and tsunami in Portugal, Spain, and Morocco

Amsterdam, Netherlands – September 13, 2023 – Dutch seismologist Frank Hoogerbeets has warned of a powerful earthquake and possible tsunami in the coming days in the region of Portugal, Spain, and Morocco.

In a blog post published on Wednesday, Hoogerbeets said that there is a high risk of seismic activity in the region from September 19 to 21. He said that the activity could be caused by a combination of factors, including the alignment of the planets and the moon, as well as geological stress in the region.

“If you are in the coastal areas of Portugal, Spain, or Morocco, you should be aware of the potential danger,” Hoogerbeets said. “There could be a major seismic event, and if that happens, it could trigger a tsunami.”

Hoogenbeets has been criticized by some scientists for his claims to be able to predict earthquakes. However, he has also been credited with accurately predicting several earthquakes in recent years, including a powerful earthquake in Turkey in February 2023 that killed more than 50,000 people.

Hoogenbeets said that the alignment of the planets and the moon on September 19 and 20 could create a “perfect storm” for seismic activity in the region. He said that the planets will be aligned in a way that creates a “gravitational pull” on the Earth’s crust, which could cause it to rupture.

In addition, Hoogerbeets said that the region is already under a lot of geological stress. The region is located on a fault line that runs through the Atlantic Ocean. This fault line has been responsible for several major earthquakes in the past, including the 1755 earthquake in Lisbon that killed more than 10,000 people.

Hoogenbeets said that it is impossible to say for sure whether or not an earthquake will occur in the region. However, he said that the risk is high enough that people in the area should be prepared.

“If you live in this region, you should have a plan in place in case of an earthquake,” Hoogerbeets said. “This could include having an emergency kit, knowing where to go in case of a tsunami, and being aware of the evacuation routes in your area.”

The Dutch government has issued a statement saying that it is taking Hoogerbeets’ warning seriously. The government has said that it is working with local authorities to prepare for the possibility of an earthquake.

“We are taking this warning seriously,” the government statement said. “We are working with local authorities to ensure that people in the region are prepared for the possibility of an earthquake.”
