The Metropolitan Police Service has launched a manhunt after a terrorist suspect escaped from HMP Wandsworth this morning (Wednesday).
Details of the accident:-
The matter began when the accused, “Daniel Abed Khalifa” (21 years old), was awaiting trial after he was accused of leaving fake bombs at a military base while serving as a soldier.
Khalifa was in pretrial detention awaiting trial in relation to terrorism crimes and the Official Secrets Act, but he escaped this morning.
Commander Dominic Murphy, head of the Metropolitan Police’s Counter Terrorism Command, said: “We have a team of officers carrying out extensive and urgent inquiries in order to locate and detain Khalifa as quickly as possible”.
Possibility of his involvement in a terrorist act:-
At a previous court hearing, it was heard that he had “obtained” personal information about soldiers from the MoD’s Joint Personnel Management System, which was “likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism” in 2021.
Commander Dominic Murphy, head of the Metropolitan Police’s Counter Terrorism Command, urged members of the public not to approach Mr. Khalifa and to call (999) immediately if they spot him.
