Volkswagen Launches Pre-Orders for New ID.7 Electric Sedan in Europe with Impressive Features

Volkswagen has kicked off pre-orders for its new electric sedan, the ID.7, in Europe, following its earlier production start this week at its factory in Emden, Germany.

The starting price for the new electric car is around $62,000, offering up to 621 kilometers of driving range, this puts it at a considerably higher price point compared to the Tesla Model 3, which starts at $46,500.

The ID.7 is the sixth and largest member of Volkswagen’s ID family, joining the ranks of ID.3, ID.4, ID.5, and the electric van ID.Buzz.

The midsize electric sedan is available in two versions, the ID.7 Pro and ID.7 Pro S, along with the sporty ID.7 GTX variant featuring dual-motor all-wheel drive and enhanced performance.

Buyers can now pre-order the ID.7 Pro for approximately $61,600, which is equipped with a 77 kWh battery offering up to 621 kilometers of driving range, the rear-mounted electric motor generates 281 horsepower and 545 Newton-meters of torque, while the spacious cabin offers ample passenger room, and the trunk can accommodate up to 532 liters of cargo.

Volkswagen has outfitted the car with numerous comfort and tech features, including an augmented reality head-up display, Discover Pro Max navigation system, distinctive 19-inch Hudson wheels, keyless access, and keyless start.

Standard safety features on the ID.7 include travel assist, lane-keeping assist, emergency assist, rear traffic alert, and exit warning. Additionally, the ID.7 Pro boasts a 360-degree Area View camera system.

Volkswagen dubs its sedan as the “efficiency champion,” boasting improved aerodynamics throughout the vehicle for reduced fuel consumption, ranging from 16.3 to 14.1 kWh/100 km, and over 460 kilometers of driving range.

Measuring around five meters in length, the car retains agility with a turning radius of 10.8 meters.

A standout feature of the ID.7 is its smart electronic air inlets, distributing air efficiently throughout the cabin for heating or cooling purposes, the optional panoramic sunroof is equipped with smart glass technology, allowing it to alternate between opaque and transparent.

Customers seeking further customization can choose from various optional packages, including interior, additional interior, exterior, and additional exterior packages.

The optional interior package includes ergoActive comfortable seats with memory and massage functions, easy-entry function, and a 30-color ambient lighting system.

Upgrading to the additional interior package includes extra airbags and the Harman Kardon sound system with twelve speakers, a 700-watt center speaker, a 16-channel digital amplifier, and a subwoofer.

The optional exterior package offers matrix LED headlights, tinted rear windows, and a sensor-controlled easy open and close trunk, the additional exterior package includes progressive steering and DCC adaptive chassis control.

Later this year, Volkswagen plans to launch the ID.7 Pro S in Europe with an 86 kWh battery and a driving range of up to 700 kilometers.
