Qualcomm has announced an update to its lineup of processors designed for dedicated mobile gaming devices, the company has officially introduced the Snapdragon G-series, now divided into three chips, catering to a variety of Android-based mobile devices.
The flagship chip, Snapdragon G3x, has been upgraded to its second-generation iteration, the Snapdragon G3x Gen 2, additionally, Qualcomm has introduced the Snapdragon G1 Gen 1 and Snapdragon G2 Gen 1 chips for budget devices that primarily focus on cloud gaming and other functionalities.
Specifically designed for fanless gaming streamers with over 10 hours of battery life, the Snapdragon G1 Gen 1 chip boasts an octa-core Kryo CPU and Adreno A11 GPU, along with Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity, it supports up to 720p resolution at 60 frames per second.
The Snapdragon G2 Gen 1 powers both cloud-based and mobile gaming devices, featuring the same octa-core Kryo CPU and Adreno A21 GPU, it supports Wi-Fi 6/6E and 5G via the Snapdragon X62 5G modem, allowing for up to +FHD resolution at up to 144 frames per second.
Designed for high-end mobile gaming devices aiming to deliver PC-level gaming on the go, the Snapdragon G3x Gen 2 chip stands out with an octa-core Kryo CPU and Adreno A32 GPU, it supports ray tracing, camera functionalities, Wi-Fi 7, and 5G, this chip can handle up to +FHD resolution with a refresh rate of 144 frames per second, notably, Qualcomm’s chip also supports PCIe Gen 4 standard for SSDs and touch feedback.
Collaborating with companies like AyaNeo, Huaqin, Inventec, Thundercomm, and others in the mobile gaming industry, Qualcomm plans to bring new products powered by Snapdragon G-series chips later this year.
