Apple has started offering refurbished AirPods for the first time through its official website at discounted prices compared to the new versions.
Currently, Apple is selling the third-generation AirPods 3 with a charging case that supports “MagSafe” wireless charging, which was released in October 2021.
Apple is offering a $30 discount when purchasing the refurbished AirPods 3, with a price of $149 instead of $179 with the “MagSafe” charging case, the regular charging case option is available for $139, which is 18% lower than the original price.
Other companies also sell refurbished AirPods, such as Amazon, which offers the same model at a slightly higher price of $159.
It is expected that Apple will release other refurbished versions of its wireless earbuds, such as AirPods Pro 2, at a reduced price of $210 instead of $249, according to some reports, but they are not yet available.
The availability of refurbished AirPods may encourage Apple device users to consider purchasing them and take advantage of the price difference, especially since they do not differ from the new versions.
It is worth mentioning that Apple’s certified refurbished products are previously sold items that have been returned to Apple, where they undergo inspection, testing, cleaning, and repackaging in a purchase box with original accessories, they come with a one-year warranty and are eligible for AppleCare+ extended coverage, similar to other Apple products.
