Andy Jassy, the CEO of Amazon, stated that all the company’s business sectors currently have several initiatives in the field of artificial intelligence (AI).
Jassy added that the AI tools being developed by Amazon will help reduce costs, manage operations and business activities smoothly, and will be present at the “heart of every customer’s experience.”
Amazon is working on enhancing AI capabilities in its personal assistant tool, “Alexa,” which is found in a wide range of devices.
The company is expected to unveil some of its AI projects later this year, coinciding with the announcement of other new products.
It is worth noting that Amazon has the necessary infrastructure to develop and operate AI tools and software through its cloud computing services, which already power many AI-driven applications.
Jassy’s statements were made during Amazon’s announcement of its financial results for the second quarter of this year, where its revenues exceeded $134 billion, with an 11% year-on-year increase driven by the growth of AWS (Amazon Web Services) cloud computing services and advertising revenues.
AWS revenues grew by 12%, while advertising revenues grew by 22% year-on-year, reaching around $10.7 billion.
Companies like Microsoft, Google, and Meta have already announced AI-supported projects and products, while other companies like Apple and Amazon continue to work on developing similar products.
