Apple Acknowledges Issue with ‘Screen Time’ Feature on iPhones and iPads, Promises to Address It
Apple has acknowledged the presence of an issue with the “Screen Time” feature on iPhones and iPads and has promised to take additional steps to address the situation, according to a new report published by The Wall Street Journal.
The Screen Time feature allows parents to remotely manage their children’s devices by restricting usage during specific times, setting time limits for each app, and blocking unwanted content.
Some users, however, have complained about the Screen Time settings, which sometimes reset unexpectedly or fail to sync with other devices linked to the same Family Sharing account.
An Apple spokesperson told The Wall Street Journal, “We are aware that some users may experience an issue with the Screen Time settings resetting unexpectedly.”
The spokesperson added that the company takes the issue seriously and will continue to release updates to improve the situation, Apple has previously addressed a similar problem with the Screen Time feature in previous system updates, but some parents still encountered the issue after updating to iOS 16.6 or the public beta version of iOS 17.
It is currently unknown when Apple plans to fix the problem, but it is expected to be addressed in one of the upcoming minor updates.
Apple introduced the Screen Time feature in 2018 as part of iOS 12 and later versions, providing parents with options to control their children’s device usage without the need to install or purchase external applications.
