WhatsApp, the popular instant messaging service owned by Meta, has begun testing a new feature that adds vibrancy to the stickers users can share with others, just two days ago, WhatsApp announced two new enhancements regarding avatars (profile pictures) on both Android and iOS systems, the first enhancement allows users to create their avatar by taking a selfie, making the process of avatar creation automatic, the second enhancement is a newly expanded set of avatars that are automatically published for all users who have configured their avatars directly from the app’s settings.
Yesterday, WABetaInfo, a website specialized in tracking experimental features in WhatsApp, has discovered a moving version of the avatar pack in the beta version 2.23.15.6 of the WhatsApp app for Android, the website shared an animated screenshot of the feature, stating that it believes this is a significant improvement that will enhance user interactions by introducing a dynamic element to avatars.
It is believed that animated avatars will add more life and personality to stickers, allowing for a more expressive messaging experience.
WABetaInfo mentioned about the new experimental feature, “The launch of the feature is scheduled for a future update, and we currently have no specific information about the expected date, although the avatars are already ready for use, and the user experience appears to be very stable.”
It is worth noting that WhatsApp is also testing another feature related to stickers, which will enable the app to suggest relevant stickers while sending messages within conversations.
Those interested in trying out the new features can join the WhatsApp beta program for Android or download and manually install the latest beta version of the app from here. Similarly, iOS users can also join the beta program from here.
