The head of the Instagram platform, Adam Mosseri, revealed a set of exciting new features for the Threads application, according to his personal statements on his own account in the application.
Mosseri has published several publications and comments on Threads to interact with users of the application and reveal new features that will be launched soon, while providing justifications for the features that have been absent so far.
According to Mosseri, future features will include the ability to edit posts, use hashtags, switch between multiple accounts, see only posts from accounts the user follows, and improve the search function.
Mosseri added that the development team is currently working on other features such as the “Trends” section, a special version for the browser (desktop), the integration of the animation service, the ability to tag people in photos and videos, the translation feature within the application, and direct participation from the Instagram application.
Mosseri did not specify any specific dates for the launch of these features, but Meta has launched a beta program for the application, allowing Android users to try out new features before they are available to everyone.
It should be noted that most of the features and options mentioned are already available in the Twitter application.
Previously, Meta announced its plan to integrate the ActivityPub protocol into Threads, enabling compatibility with various publishing platforms like WordPress and Mastodon.
This integration will empower publishers to transfer their followers and content seamlessly if they choose to migrate from Threads.
The Threads application is increasingly popular and attracts a large number of users since its launch, thanks to its dependence on the Instagram platform, and observers believe that the Threads application will pose a real challenge to Twitter.
Twitter is seeing an increase in outages as its competitor Threads continues to grow exponentially
Twitter is currently facing a wave of outages as its new threading service, a competitor to Twitter, attracts tens of millions of subscribers.
Several Twitter users have received reports of outages in the past 24 hours. According to data from Downdetector, the issues appeared around 4:30 p.m Friday.
Downdetector collects data from users who sense something is wrong and reports it to the service, The data showed that about 70 percent of outages come from the desktop version of Twitter, while only 13 percent of outages come from the mobile app.
In addition, the TweetDeck service, which helps users organize the accounts they follow into different columns to easily monitor content, has been experiencing downtime in recent days.
Meanwhile, Themes was a hit with more than 70 million subscriptions in just one day of its official launch, according to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s tweet on Themes. Zuckerberg said the app’s popularity far exceeded their expectations.
Threads success is believed to be due in part to its association with an established social network, Instagram.
Thanks to this link, users can subscribe to the app using their existing Instagram accounts and keep some of their followers.
For his part, Twitter owner Elon Musk has expressed some concern about the threads, In a letter from his attorney Alex Spiro to Meta, Musk accused the company of “unlawful misappropriation” of trade secrets.
