YouTube Introduces New Feature for Enhanced Comment Control on Videos

YouTube recently launched a new feature that gives content creators greater control over comments on their videos, this feature allows for temporarily disabling new comments without deleting existing ones, striking a balance between preserving current engagement and controlling new comments.

The new option enables channel owners to temporarily stop adding new comments on any video, while keeping previous comments viewable, when this function is activated, the option to add comments disappears beneath the video, accompanied by a message indicating that comments are temporarily halted.

This feature grants content creators more control over the comments they receive, in addition to providing necessary time to effectively deal with negative comments.

YouTube began testing this feature with a limited group of channel owners, many of whom reported a positive experience characterized by less confusion and greater flexibility in managing a large volume of comments, YouTube has also improved its comment moderation options, which include four different levels: “No moderation,” “Review all comments,” and “Basic” and “Strict” options for controlling potentially inappropriate comments.

Finally, it’s worth noting that YouTube is currently developing a new feature using artificial intelligence to summarize comments on videos, which could facilitate the comment-reading process for viewers, especially in cases of a large number of comments.
