Google has introduced restrictions on its “Magic Editor,” a powerful and advanced photo editing tool, to prevent its misuse in specific scenarios.
The tool utilizes artificial intelligence to edit photos and perform highly complex tasks, expanding on the capabilities of the long-standing Magic Eraser tool.
However, due to concerns about potential misuse, Google has imposed limitations on the tool’s use.
The intelligent photo editor displays an error message when attempting to edit images of official documents such as IDs, invoices, or any other documents with an official stamp or containing personal identification information.
The tool also prohibits attempts to edit faces, individuals, or body parts, along with other restrictions like erasing or moving large selections.
The “Magic Editor” tool combines functionalities from previous Google tools, such as the Photo Unblur tool for enhancing blurry images and the “Magic Eraser” for swiftly removing unwanted elements from a selected area within an image, among other complex tasks.
This Magic Editor is currently available for owners of Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro smartphones. Google is expected to roll it out to other Pixel devices and subscribers of Google One and Google Workspace services in the future.
