Apple Unveils New MacBook Pro, iMac, and M3 Processors in “Scary Fast” Event

Apple announced its latest products today during an event titled “Scary Fast,” including the new MacBook Pro series, a desktop iMac, and the new M3 processor lineup.

The highlight of this event was the introduction of the new M3 processors, which will power all the new devices unveiled by Apple.

The event began with a promotional video showcasing the wide-ranging uses of Mac computers in various fields, emphasizing the impact of Mac devices on users’ creativity and productivity.

Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, delivered the opening address, stating, “Tonight, we have something special to celebrate the product we all love, the Mac. As we saw in the previous video, Mac has always inspired us to be creative, productive, and do our best work in life. Therefore, we continue to develop Mac devices. Thanks to Apple Silicon processors, it has undergone a complete transformation. Today, we are introducing the new Apple processor family that will power the MacBook Pro.”

New M3 Processors:

During the event, Apple introduced the new M3 processor lineup, consisting of three processors: M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max. Apple referred to these processors as “the first processors in a personal computer” manufactured using the cutting-edge 3-nanometer process technology, the same technology used in the new A17 Pro chips in the latest iPhone 15 Pro models.

The 3-nanometer process technology enables more transistors to be integrated into a smaller space, improving both speed and efficiency, in addition to offering a “faster and more efficient” central processing unit, the three processors come with enhanced graphics processing units and a new technology known as Dynamic Caching, which enhances memory utilization during multitasking.

These new GPUs also support hardware-accelerated ray tracing and hardware-accelerated geometry processing, features making their debut in Apple’s Mac computers.

Moreover, Apple didn’t neglect the ongoing artificial intelligence revolution when developing the M3 processors, the new processors support an enhanced neural engine for accelerating powerful machine learning models, providing an opportunity for AI model developers to use personal computers for training complex models, the neural engine in the M3 processors is 60% faster than the engine in the M1 processors, making AI and machine learning tasks faster while keeping data on the device for privacy.

The powerful image processing tools, such as noise reduction and high-fidelity sharpening in Topaz, also saw a significant performance boost.

Additionally, there was a substantial improvement in video editing tools like scene detection in Adobe Premiere and Smart Conform in Final Cut Pro.

All processors in the M3 series also come with an advanced media engine, enabling the acceleration of leading video encoding formats, including H.264, HEVC, ProRes, and ProRes RAW.

New MacBook Pro Models with M3 Processors:

Apple also announced two new MacBook Pro models, featuring 14-inch and 16-inch displays, powered by the latest M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max processors, these laptops feature the stunning Retina Liquid XDR display with 20% higher peak SDR brightness.

Both models include a 1080p built-in camera, a six-speaker sound system, a variety of connectivity options, and up to 22 hours of battery life, the M3 Pro and M3 Max versions are available in a new color, Cosmic Black, the new MacBook Pro models can be pre-ordered starting today, with prices starting at 6,899 UAE Dirhams. They will be available in stores from November 7.

24-inch iMac with M3 Processor:

Apple also unveiled a new 24-inch iMac equipped with the M3 processor, offering twice the performance of the previous generation with an Intel processor, the updated iMac boasts a slim design and comes in seven vibrant colors, for users upgrading from Intel-based iMacs, the new iMac is around 2.5 times faster than the 27-inch models and about 4 times faster than the 21.5-inch models.

In addition to the new processor, the updated iMac features a wide 4.5K Retina display with over 11.3 million pixels and more than one billion colors, it supports Wi-Fi 6E for faster wireless connections and seamless integration with iPhones, the iMac comes with a 1080p webcam and is available for pre-order starting today, with prices starting at 5,499 UAE Dirhams, it will be available in stores from November 7.
