Dropbox has announced a series of upcoming changes to its file hosting service, including a redesigned web application, an open beta for AI-powered global search, a new video collaboration tool, and upgrades to the recently introduced AI features in June.
In addition, Dropbox is introducing three new plans for business customers starting at $22 per month, the new Essential plan, priced at $22 per month, offers 3 terabytes of storage, PDF file editing, electronic signature capabilities, and document analytics.
The Business and Business Plus plans, priced at $24 and $32 per month, respectively, include extra features such as external sharing controls, report creation, the ability to transfer large files, and more.
The redesigned web application is currently available to selected customers and will become widely accessible in the coming months, the new web app features an updated navigation bar on the left, expandable folder trees, and quick access to essential tasks.
Additionally, file previews have been redesigned, and a new action bar at the top of the page facilitates file management and screen recording.
A larger number of Dropbox customers will gain access to AI-powered file summarization, which includes text, audio, and video content.
This feature helps users locate relevant content through the Dropbox search bar, using natural language, and search results provide a short summary for each file, making it easier for users to find what they need quickly.
The company has also launched an open beta version of the AI-powered global search feature, known as Dash, which is available as a standalone app capable of searching information across a variety of apps and services used by the user, including Google Workspace, Outlook, Salesforce, Notion, and many others. Users can also organize website addresses into smart groups called stacks.
In the upcoming weeks, Dropbox is set to release Studio, a new video collaboration tool that allows users to record, edit, and publish videos.
The tool includes AI-powered editing capabilities, enabling users to easily remove filler words and frames by deleting words and sentences in the text.
