Apple has released the new update for the iPhone operating system, “iOS 17,” on Monday, which includes several new features for users, just days after the launch of the iPhone 15 series.
According to the American news network CNN, the new update in Apple’s operating system brings many features that make the iPhone experience more personal and intuitive.
Apple had initially tested this version at the developer conference earlier in June, but many didn’t pay much attention to the details at that time, as the American tech giant unveiled its long-awaited mixed reality headset during that event, which overshadowed other announcements.
Users around the world can update their iPhones by clicking on the “Software Update” option in the phone’s settings.
Some of the key features in the new version of the operating system include Voice Mail and FaceTime video, where the new feature converts the caller’s voice message into text in real-time, giving the user the choice to answer the call or ignore it while the other person remains on the line.
Unknown numbers will go directly to voice mail, with the “Silence Unknown Callers” feature activated.
As for FaceTime, it will allow users to leave video messages for someone who didn’t answer the video call.
The features also include “Siri without ‘Hey,'” by enabling the voice assistant in Apple to respond to just “Siri” instead of “Hey Siri.”
Apple says that removing the word “Hey” makes it more natural.
There’s a new feature to facilitate contact information sharing: with the new update, exchanging contact information with friends will be easier through the “Contact Posters” service, allowing users to design custom images that appear when making calls.
The new update allows users to choose their caller ID images on the phone, providing a more consistent look regardless of who they are calling.
Another feature is a new batch of autocorrect improvements, with a comprehensive update to autocorrect featuring a new machine learning model that predicts words.
This update provides support for sentence-level autocorrection as well as correction for more types of grammatical errors.
Users will receive instant typing suggestions when tapping on the phone’s screen, predicting the words they are typing.
There will be a new standby mode as a glance for displaying quick information on the device’s screen while charging.
Users can control this information, such as the time, favorite photos, and most used tools.
