Apple has released a software update specifically for iPhone 12 users in France to address concerns about high radiation levels. This update has received approval from French regulators. Earlier this month, the company faced the threat of having its iPhone 12 sales suspended in France if it didn’t resolve this issue.
In response to the concern, France had temporarily halted iPhone 12 sales until Apple could rectify the situation and ensure that the devices complied with European standards for electromagnetic radiation. Notably, the increased electromagnetic radiation levels, which drew the attention of regulators, seemed to be a consequence of successive software updates issued by Apple. These elevated levels were not present when the iPhone 12 was originally launched in 2020.
The French National Frequency Agency (ANFR) had taken the step of ordering Apple to remove the iPhone 12 from the French market starting from September 12 due to the model exceeding the prescribed limit for electromagnetic absorption by the human body.
However, it’s important to note that ministers later clarified that while the radiation levels exceeded accepted standards, they did not pose a danger to users, assuring people that it was safe to continue using their iPhones.
