Adobe Unveils AI-Powered Speech Enhancement and 3D Features in Premiere Pro and After Effects

Adobe is bringing some three-dimensional and artificial intelligence features to the trial version of Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Frame.io, its popular suite of video and audio editing apps designed to streamline workflows and accelerate time-consuming tasks.

Premiere Pro introduces an AI-powered Speech Enhancement feature, which Adobe claims can make poorly recorded dialogue sound like it was recorded in a professional studio, the feature automatically removes background noise and provides Premiere Pro users with a mixed slider to customize the amount they want to blend into their projects.

A new Sound Class Tags feature is also available in Premiere Pro, which automatically tags clips that include dialogue, sound effects, or ambient noise.

Simultaneously, Adobe’s text-based editing tool in Premiere Pro, introduced earlier this year, now includes Word Fill Detection to identify unnecessary pauses and automatically remove them from the dialogue.

Other updates for Premiere Pro include a faster timeline for more responsive editing, improvements to auto tone selection, and new project templates to help creators quickly get started on new tasks.

After Effects adds a true 3D workspace for projects involving visual effects and motion graphics that support importing original 3D models.

The lighting built into the scene provides realistic illumination and shadows for 3D models, utilizing layer-stacking effects such as displacement maps, vector-based warping, or calculations on the 3D model layer as a source.

The renowned Roto Brush tool, which automatically identifies moving objects, receives an upgrade to separate objects that are difficult to isolate, such as intersecting edges and hair.

The collaborative platform Frame.io gets an update with a Comparison Viewer that allows users to view video, audio, images, design files, and PDFs together, enabling users to compare and comment on any two matching assets.

Later this year, Frame.io will introduce a feature called Storage Connect, a new way to speed up collaboration and reduce costs for enterprise clients by allowing them to use their own storage while retaining full control over assets.

These features are available for trial now and are expected to be available to the general public later this year.
