“Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google, stated that Google’s longstanding relationship with semiconductor company NVIDIA is not expected to change anytime soon, with expectations of collaboration continuing for the next ten years.
In an interview published by Wired magazine on Monday, Pichai mentioned that Google has worked extensively with NVIDIA on the Android operating system and other initiatives for over a decade, he emphasized NVIDIA’s impressive track record in artificial intelligence innovation.
Pichai commented, ‘Look, the semiconductor industry is a highly dynamic and collaborative one.’ He added, ‘It’s an industry that requires deep and long-term research, development, and investments. I feel very comfortable about our relationship with NVIDIA, and we will continue to work closely with them ten years from now.’
Last August, both companies announced a partnership aimed at providing Google Cloud customers with enhanced access to technology supported by NVIDIA’s H100 graphics processing units.
NVIDIA’s stock reached an all-time high following the announcement, NVIDIA’s powerful graphics processing units are in high demand from cloud service companies, government agencies, and startups for training and deploying generative artificial intelligence models, such as OpenAI’s widely known ChatGPT chatbot.
Google is in fierce competition with companies like OpenAI and Microsoft to lead in artificial intelligence innovations, they have introduced several AI solutions, including the Bard chatbot, across their business units.
In his Wired magazine interview, Pichai described artificial intelligence as ‘one of the most profound technologies we will ever work on.'”
