New managerial position for Gianluigi Buffon in the Italy national team

Recently retired goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon announced his joining the Italian national team coaching staff, days after retiring from football, through a tweet via the site “Twitter”.

Buffon wrote on his official account: “I return to the Italian national team because that child who entered 30 years ago through the gates of the Covercciano training ground for the first time still wants to dream and live this dream with Italian fans.”

According to Italian newspaper reports, Buffon takes over as team manager, replacing the late Gianluica Vialli, who recently passed away.

Buffon officially announces his retirement from football

Gigi Buffon, 45, returned to Parma two years ago, after the end of his contract with Juventus to end his career with the club where his career began but in the Italian second division.

Gigi Buffon played for Parma, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain respectively, and from 1995 to 2023.

He also wore the Italian national team shirt from 1997 to 2018, and succeeded in winning the World Cup with the Azzurri in 2006.

Buffon is one of the greatest goalkeepers of all time in football history, having played more than 1,000 matches in his history, and has won numerous awards and trophies.

The veteran Italian, Buffon, has a career of records and championships, as he played 1151 matches with clubs and teams, through which he won 29 titles in 29 seasons, and he is the goalkeeper with the most times he kept a clean sheet in history, in addition to being the most goalkeeper who achieved individual awards, and the largest goalkeeper to win the award for the best goalkeeper in Europe, in addition to being the best goalkeeper in the world 5 times, and the best goalkeeper in Europe 3 times.

The Italian giant Buffon played 29 seasons in its history in football, in which he succeeded in crowning 10 Italian league titles, and the world champion in 2006 with the Italian team in the final, and Buffon succeeded in keeping a clean sheet for 974 minutes, a number not achieved before, while he was crowned the best goalkeeper in the 21st century.
