Charles Leclerc set the fastest times during the second free practice session at the Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix, ahead of McLaren driver Lando Norris and AlphaTauri’s Pierre Gasly.
Yuki Tsunoda put AlphaTauri in fourth place, followed by Esteban Ocon, who completed the top five.
In contrast to the first free practice session, the track conditions during the second session were dry.
The cars took to the circuit to work on their planned programmes, and the drivers used different tire compounds, including soft, hard and medium tyres.
As track conditions improved, lap times began to increase faster, At the start, the Williams cars of Nicholas Latifi and Logan Sargent were leading.
However, the Haas car of Nikita Mazepin with Mick Schumacher behind the wheel took pole position, followed by Yuki Tsunoda in the AlphaTauri.
Later on, Lando Norris, who was driving a McLaren, went ahead during the session, On the other hand, the Red Bull cars haven’t recorded any fast times yet, with Sergio Perez finishing eighth on soft tyres, and his teammate Max Verstappen dropping to sixteenth.
Charles Leclerc managed to snatch pole position from Norris by just 0.015 seconds, putting Ferrari on top with just 20 minutes remaining in the session.
The session concluded with Leclerc leading, followed by Norris, Gasly, Tsunoda and Okon.
Haas’ Nico Hulkenberg finished fifth, passing Alfa Romeo’s Valtteri Bottas.
Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin), Juanio Zhou (Alfa Romeo) and Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) completed the top ten.
McLaren’s impressive pace over long distances marked the session.
