Manchester City Celebrates Historic Champions League Victory with a Parade Planned for Monday
After claiming their first-ever Champions League title, Manchester City’s stars, including Erling Haaland and Jack Grealish, celebrated exuberantly and shared the festivities with fans on Instagram. A parade to honor the triple winners is set to take place in Manchester on Monday.
On Saturday evening, Manchester City narrowly secured the European football crown by defeating Inter Milan 1-0 (0-0) in the Champions League final, completing their treble of the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League titles. A 68th-minute goal from Spanish midfielder Rodri ultimately made the difference in the fiercely contested match, in which underdogs Inter Milan proved to be on par with Pep Guardiola’s team. After the final whistle, City’s celebrations knew no bounds, with captain and German national team star Ilkay Gündogan reveling in the victory on the field.
One of the most enthusiastic celebrants was English international Jack Grealish, who shared the festivities with fans through his Instagram stories. From the locker room, Grealish posted a video of players and staff singing a Manchester City-themed version of Fleetwood Mac’s “Everywhere.” The hero of the night, Rodri, was also serenaded with “Rodri’s on fire,” sung to the melody of Gala’s “Freed from Desire.”
Although Erling Haaland did not score during Saturday’s final, the 22-year-old Norwegian contributed significantly to the triple triumph with 52 goals in 53 games during his debut season following his transfer from Borussia Dortmund. Haaland also joined in the celebrations, sharing a photo of himself enjoying a cigar at sunrise on his Instagram story. He also posed for a picture with Grealish, captioning it “Love this guy.”
The celebrations in Manchester, where thousands of fans already honored their sky-blue heroes on Saturday, are set to continue for another two days. A parade for the triple winners is planned for Monday, according to the Manchester Evening News. The club is expected to announce further details on Sunday.
