FC Barcelona has inaugurated its new Museum, situated adjacent to the Palau Blaugrana in the building that previously housed the Palau de Gel. Club president Joan Laporta, Museum director Jordi Penas, and GRUP MEDIAPRO co-founder Jaume Roures attended the opening ceremony. Natalia Garriga, the Minister of Culture of the Generalitat of Catalunya, and other representatives from Barcelona’s cultural institutions were also present. The new space will be open to the public starting Wednesday, June 7, and will operate until the new Spotify Camp Nou Museum is unveiled in the 2024/25 season.
The event commenced with a tour of the Barça Immersive Tour, guided by President Laporta and a delegation of guests. Concurrently, Laporta and the women’s team coach, Jonatan Giráldez, along with other women’s football executives displayed the second Champions League trophy won by the women’s team.
Inside the immersive hall—the largest in any European sports museum—speeches were delivered, and the new Espai Barça manifesto was officially presented. Penas emphasized the multi-faceted nature of the Museum, saying it “is passion, illusion, future, emotion, and making people from all over the world happy when they spend time with us.” Roures explained the goal was to replicate the renovation they carried out at the Spotify Camp Nou Museum in 2010 and described the new installation as “a space that doesn’t exist in Europe and allows people to relive the Club’s emblematic moments in history.” He also emphasized the Museum’s role as “a major economic driver for the Club.”
Laporta closed the speeches, inviting “all Barça fans and sports enthusiasts to immerse themselves in a journey filled with emotions, interactivity, and excitement.” He thanked GRUP MEDIAPRO for completing “a marvel in the world of museums of feelings” in record time. The president defined the space as “a tool to tell and spread the history of Barça” and a necessary instrument “to fulfill the values established by the Club’s founder, Joan Gamper, of bringing FC Barcelona closer to sports fans, the city, and the country.” Laporta also highlighted that “this Museum is the first piece of Espai Barça, where there is a place dedicated to this new home of Barça fans,” and where “visitors will experience the sensations and emotions of a journey into the future of the Spotify Camp Nou.”
