The strong confrontation between Japan and Vietnam will take place at Al-Thumama Stadium in the first match of the group stage for Group D, which brings together the two national teams on Sunday, January 14, 2024. The match will kick off at the following times:

  • 2:30 PM Mecca Time.
  • 3:30 PM Abu Dhabi Time.
  • 1:30 PM Egypt Standard Time.

The Japanese national team is a strong candidate to qualify at the top of Group D and is also a candidate to win the Asian title. According to reports from the famous international website “Opta” about the teams most likely to win the Asian title, the Japanese national team came in first place with a percentage of 24.6%, while North Korea’s national team came in second place with a percentage of 14.3%.

The coach of the Japanese national team stated: “We must be cautious of all the teams during the Asian Cup tournament.”

The Japanese national team is in Group D, which also includes the following teams:

  • Vietnam national team.
  • Iraq national team.
  •  Indonesia national team.

The technical manager of the Japanese national team has emphasized that the Samurai are evolving significantly, as their future goal is to win the World Cup title in 2026, He added that Japan’s loss in the 2019 Asian Cup to the Qatari national team left him feeling frustrated.

It is worth mentioning that Group D of the Asian Cup is the only group where two teams have previously won the Asian championship, The Japanese national team has won the title in 1992, 2000, 2004, and 2011, while the Iraqi national team has won it once in 2007.

The official page of Japanese football on the social media site “X” has listed the most expensive Arab players participating in the Asian Cup, The list includes 4 players from the Saudi Arabian national team, 3 players from the Syrian national team, 2 players from the UAE national team, and one player each from Jordan and Qatar.

The most expensive Arab player in the Asian Cup competition is the star Musa Al-Tamari.
