A Spanish newspaper report today revealed a sudden shift in Real Madrid’s stance regarding the potential signing of Kylian Mbappé, the star of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), during the upcoming summer transfer window.
This change is attributed to various sporting, economic, and social reasons.
According to the Spanish radio station Cadena SER, Real Madrid has decided not to pursue Kylian Mbappé, even if the player does not renew his contract at the Parc des Princes.
The report elaborated on three main factors behind this unexpected change in the club’s position regarding the veteran striker.
One of these factors is Mbappé’s high salary, which is expected to be no less than €20 million annually, in addition to a signing bonus.
Furthermore, the Real Madrid management is heavily leaning towards a strategy of investing in young players, considering that Mbappé will be 26 years old in 2024.
The report also indicated that the Spanish giants are displeased with Mbappé’s decision to stay with Paris Saint-Germain and extend his contract until 2024.
Kylian Mbappé’s contract with Paris Saint-Germain is set to expire on June 30, 2024, which means he will have the freedom to sign with any club in the upcoming winter transfer window.
