In the 54th minute of the match, the Uruguayan player suffered an injury when he felt pain in his right thigh.
Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti quickly intervened and substituted him with his French player, Eduardo Camavinga.
It is expected that Valverde will undergo medical examinations within the next few hours in order to determine his condition before the match against Athletic Bilbao.
