Egyptian singer Mahmoud El Esseily opened the Jeddah Summer Festival 2023 on Thursday night with a sold-out concert at the BenchMark Theatre in Saudi Arabia.
El Esseily kicked off the show with his hit song “Ala Khadak” (On Your Cheek). He wore a black shirt with a print of the Giza Pyramids.
The audience cheered as El Esseily performed his songs, particularly when he sang the name “Jeddah.” El Esseily told the crowd that it was his first time performing in the city. He thanked the Saudi General Authority for Entertainment and the audience for attending.
El Esseily was joined by the Egyptian rock band Cairokee for the second half of the concert. The two acts performed a selection of their most popular songs, including “Ya Ana Ya Ant” (Me or You), “El Gharib” (The Stranger), and “Esketeer” (Shut Up).
The concert was broadcast live on MBC Egypt.
The sell-out concert is a sign of El Esseily’s popularity in Saudi Arabia. He is one of the most successful singers in the Arab world with a large following in the Middle East and North Africa.
El Esseily’s concert is part of a series of events taking place as part of the Jeddah Summer Festival. The festival is a major cultural event that features concerts, exhibitions, and other activities.
