The Dark Confession: Houthis Admit to Executing 16 Victims, Laying Them to Rest in the Amran Mass Grave
In a nutshell, the report revolves around the recent unearthing of 16 cadavers in Yemen. These individuals were taken captive by a faction known as the Houthis more than a decade ago and were subsequently discovered deceased. The corpses were unearthed within a cavern that served as a burial ground for the Houthis’ victims.
The Houthis, a group supported by Iran, engaged in numerous violent confrontations with the Yemeni military from 2004 to 2010, resulting in significant casualties among both soldiers and civilians.
Recently, the Houthis confessed to abducting 16 individuals, including tribal leaders, from their residences in a locality called Amran. They accused these individuals of waging war against Yemen’s armed forces. Subsequently, the Houthis executed them and interred their remains within the cave. Eventually, the burial site was disclosed to the victims’ families.
The kin of the deceased, along with tribal leaders and local authorities, organized a demonstration to demand information from the Houthis regarding the fate of their loved ones. A high-ranking Houthi military official informed them that the prisoners had been executed one year after their capture during clashes with the Yemeni government.
In an attempt to appease the families, the Houthis purportedly offered them substantial monetary compensation. However, the revelation of these bodies might embolden other individuals to step forward and seek information about their missing relatives who may have been abducted or killed by the Houthis. It is believed that there may be additional instances of undisclosed disappearances and executions.
