This announcement follows a job listing published in June that initially hinted at the game being free to enter.

In a recent Behind The Sims video, Pearson elaborated on this exciting development, stating, “We intend for Project Rene to be free to download, which means that once it’s ready for our players, you can dive into Project Rene without the need for a subscription, purchasing the core game, or dealing with energy mechanics.”

You can watch the complete video for more details.

While the base game will be accessible for free, similar to The Sims 4, players can anticipate the release of additional expansion packs and content after the game’s launch.

Pearson explained in the video, “In addition to regular updates to the core game, we will offer content and packs for sale, but we’re planning to adjust that mix.”

Furthermore, Pearson mentioned that Project Rene might not be as feature-rich as The Sims 4 initially, but the development team is committed to delivering fresh content and packs that The Sims 4 may not have in the pipeline.

While specifics about these packs remain undisclosed, more information is expected to emerge as the development of Project Rene progresses.

Although an official release date for Project Rene has yet to be disclosed, Behind The Sims is providing valuable insights to build anticipation for the upcoming game.

While there is much more to uncover, the fact that the game will be free to download on all platforms is undoubtedly an exciting prospect.
