A newly released poster for the upcoming Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 hints at the deep bond between Gojo Satoru and Geto Suguru, which will be further explored in the highly anticipated season premiering on July 6, 2023.
The anime, set to be a highlight of the Summer 2023 anime season, will air for two cours and cover both Gojo’s Past Arc and the Shibuya Incident Arc. Season 1 of Jujutsu Kaisen, which aired in October 2020, quickly became a worldwide blockbuster thanks to its stunning visuals and gripping storyline. The prequel movie, Jujutsu Kaisen 0, released in December 2021, enjoyed equal popularity. The story is based on Gege Akutami’s original manga series, which first appeared in Weekly Shonen Jump in March 2018.
Gojo’s Past Arc, comprised of the Hidden Inventory and Premature Death Arcs, delves into the world of Gojo Satoru, considered the strongest sorcerer. The arc features Gojo, Geto Suguru, and Shoko Ieri as students at Tokyo Jujutsu High School and covers events preceding Jujutsu Kaisen 0. The movie hinted at the bond shared by Gojo and Geto, but an unknown rift later drove them apart. Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 promises to reveal the circumstances surrounding the rift between the two sorcerers.
In addition to Gojo’s Past Arc, the upcoming season will feature the Shibuya Incident Arc, which covers events following the conclusion of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1. The second season will be available on Crunchyroll, where the first season and movie are already streaming.
The trailer for Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2, released earlier this year, was widely praised for its animation of the iconic character Fushiguro Toji and a glimpse of his highly anticipated fight with Gojo Satoru.
The series follows the story of Yuji Itadori, an ordinary boy with extraordinary physical abilities. After stumbling upon a cursed object, Sukuna’s finger, Itadori swallows it in hopes of gaining enough power to save a classmate from a curse. Now sharing a body with Ryomen Sukuna, the once-strongest Jujutsu sorcerer known as the “King of Curses”, Itadori joins Tokyo Jujutsu High School. Alongside classmates Fushiguro Megumi and Kugisaki Nobara, the trio trains to eventually defeat Ryoumen Sukuna.
Jujutsu Kaisen is based on the manga of the same name, written and illustrated by mangaka Gege Akutami. The manga is ongoing and releases new chapters weekly on Sundays.
