Volvo launches the luxury electric Polestar 5 with an amazing power of 871 horsepower to compete with the Porsche Taycan
Polestar, affiliated with Volvo and Geely, has unveiled the final production version of the new electric Polestar 5 after making appearances with camouflage covers at various events.
Positioned as a direct competitor to the Porsche Taycan and Audi e-tron, the Polestar 5 features extremely slim LED taillights across the car’s width in the rear section, accompanied by a large sporty diffuser-equipped bumper.
Notably, the new Polestar 5 lacks a traditional rear window, relying on a camera to display the rearview on a screen mounted in the central mirror position.
The fully electric Polestar 5 is scheduled for a complete launch with an electric power system delivering up to 871 horsepower and 900 Newton-meters of torque through a pair of electric motors and an all-wheel-drive system.
The anticipated range on a single charge is an impressive 600 kilometers.
Polestar has revealed plans to experiment with a new battery manufacturing technology promising ultra-fast charging, providing 161 kilometers of range after just a 5-minute charge.
Polestar emphasizes that this technology does not impact the expected battery lifespan, addressing concerns associated with rapid chargers affecting battery health.
In addition to showcasing the new Polestar 5 electric vehicle, Polestar presented its full lineup of production and prototype cars, including the stunning Synergy hypercar and the eye-catching Polestar Roadster prototype, sharing design similarities with the new Polestar 5.
