Once again, the phenomenon of building collapses has reoccurred in Egypt. An old building consisting of 5 floors collapsed in the Hadda’iq al-Qubbah area east of the Egyptian capital Cairo on Sunday The authorities received a report of the collapse of an old building on Mustafa Omar Street in the Hadda’iq al-Qubbah area of Cairo and immediately rescue forces and ambulances were dispatched to the scene.
Upon investigation it was found that the building was composed of 5 floors and rescue forces are intensifying their efforts to search for any individuals underneath the building In response an engineering committee from the Cairo governorate went to inspect the building and examine neighboring properties The investigations revealed that the building had been issued a demolition notice two years ago and has been completely vacant.
Similar incidents have occurred in the Hadda’iq al-Qubbah area in the past On July 18 there was a similar incident where 8 people died and 5 others were injured in the collapse of a 5-story building. Previously, the Egyptian authorities conducted an investigation into the death of a housewife and a worker due to the collapse of a balcony in a 5-story building in the Labban area in the Gomrok district of the city.
In another incident two people were killed and three others were injured in the collapse of a 2-story building on Ibn al-Afeefi Street in the same area Al-Gomrok district. In June of last year Alexandria witnessed a tragic incident where a 14-story building collapsed, resulting in the death of 10 people and injuring others A few days later, a 5-story building collapsed in the city of Rashid in the Beheira governorate also causing the death of 4 people and injuring 8 others.
