Egyptian Artist Alaa Abdel-Khalek Passes Away at 59 After Long Battle with Illness

In a significant loss to the Egyptian art scene, renowned artist Alaa Abdel-Khalek has passed away following a prolonged battle with illness, at 59 years old.

Abdel-Khalek’s artistic journey began in 1980 with the band “Al Asdiqa” (The Friends), alongside singer Hanan and Mona Abdel Ghani, his first album was released in 1985, with the popular singer Hamid El Shaeri playing a crucial role in its distribution and release, they collaborated on the song “Bakbuk Koun”.

The artist had been absent from the music scene for a considerable period since 2002, when he released his last album titled “Ain B Ain” (Eye for an Eye)”.

Born in Cairo on February 23, 1964, Abdel-Khalek graduated from the Institute of Arabic Music, specializing in playing the Nay (a type of flute), he was one of the cassette era’s stars during the 1980s and 1990s.
