Egypt’s Ministry of Interior Refutes Social Media Claims Regarding Fatal Collision in Madinaty – Cairo

CAIRO – The Egyptian Ministry of Interior has issued an official statement denying the veracity of social media reports that a police officer was responsible for a fatal collision in the residential compound “Madinaty” in New Cairo.

The incident, which has been widely discussed on social media platforms, involved a car colliding with a family, resulting in the death of a woman, a pharmacist, and injuries to others, social media reports had initially claimed that a police officer was the perpetrator of the incident.

The Ministry’s statement refuted these claims, stating, “The reports circulating on social media that a police officer was the perpetrator of the collision in a residential compound in New Cairo, which resulted in the death of a woman (a pharmacist) and injuries to others, are not true.”

According to local media, Egyptian security forces have arrested the individual accused of running over the pharmacist, her husband, and their children in the well-known compound “Madinaty”, the operations room of the Cairo Security Directorate received a report of a traffic accident with one fatality and several injuries in one of the compounds in the First Settlement area.

A team from the detectives moved to the scene of the incident, and it was found that a private car had collided with a family consisting of a father, mother, and their three children, this resulted in the death of the mother, who worked as a pharmacist and died due to a brain hemorrhage, the father, a veterinarian, and the children were injured with wounds and fractures.

The Public Prosecution has been notified to initiate investigations and take the necessary legal measures regarding the incident.
