Egypt Denounces Israeli Bombardment of Rafah Crossing, Emphasizes Its Continued Operation
Egypt confirmed on Thursday that the Rafah border crossing with the Gaza Strip remains open, contrary to circulating reports of its closure. However, regular operations have been disrupted due to the damage caused by Israeli airstrikes.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry issued a statement clarifying the situation at the Rafah border crossing. “While Egypt has ensured that the Rafah crossing has remained functional and never closed since the onset of the current crisis, Israeli bombardments have consistently targeted its infrastructure on the Palestinian side, preventing its smooth operation.”
Egypt further urged Israel to refrain from targeting the Palestinian side of the crossing. This appeal is in line with the ongoing efforts to repair and restore the crossing as a lifeline to support the Palestinians in the region.

To address the humanitarian crisis, Egypt has encouraged all nations and international organizations keen on offering aid to the Palestinian people in Gaza to direct their contributions to Al-Arish International Airport. This facility has been designated by Egyptian authorities to receive international humanitarian assistance from various global entities.
The statement emphasized the global moral responsibility, stating, “The dire circumstances currently faced by the Palestinian people necessitate immediate and robust humanitarian support from conscientious individuals around the world.”
Previously, on Tuesday, the Rafah crossing had been targeted by Israeli bombardment on its Palestinian side. This assault is perceived as part of Israel’s strategy to cut off supplies and aid to the Gaza Strip, hindering the flow of traffic.
