Witnesses said that the woman was swimming in the shallow waters of the Lagoon Beach when she was attacked from behind. She was reportedly bitten on the leg and suffered minor injuries.

The woman was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. She is said to be in stable condition.

In response to the attack, the Egyptian Ministry of Environment has closed the Lagoon Beach and is working to investigate the incident.

The ministry has also formed a task force to assess the situation and develop measures to prevent future attacks.

This is the second shark attack in Egypt in recent months. In June 2023, a Russian tourist was killed in a shark attack in the Red Sea resort town of Hurghada.

Shark attacks are rare in Egypt, but they can occur. Tourists are advised to be aware of the risks and take precautions when swimming in the Red Sea.

In addition to the closure of the Lagoon Beach, the ministry has also issued a warning to swimmers to avoid swimming in areas where there is a high concentration of fish or other marine life.

The ministry is also working to educate the public about shark safety and how to reduce the risk of an attack.

The ministry has said that it is committed to ensuring the safety of all visitors to Egypt.
