Samsung Electronics unveiled its latest innovations for the smart home during its press conference at IFA 2023, the company highlighted its vision for the SmartThings ecosystem, enabling consumers to prioritize their interests, from energy-saving and enhanced security to entertainment and making their daily lives more efficient.
SmartThings allows its 285 million users to continuously adapt and customize their homes to meet their needs, easily connecting and controlling various household and electronic devices through a single application.
Samsung’s presence at IFA 2023 coincided with the release of new consumer research conducted across Europe, aiming to understand evolving technology needs in homes.

Enhancing the Connected Home Experience:
The SmartThings app empowers users to control their homes from anywhere, facilitating seamless entertainment and ensuring safety, approximately 71% of consumers agree that technology has a positive impact on their daily lives, affecting how they interact with friends and family, manage household chores, and enjoy hobbies.
Food enthusiasts can now fully immerse themselves in the joy of cooking and dining with the Samsung Food app, this integrated application allows users to discover, save, and share recipes, prepare meals, and shop for groceries. Samsung unveiled the Samsung Food app during the IFA 2023 press conference, and it is available today in 104 countries in eight languages, it puts global culinary knowledge at user’s fingertips, enabling them to make informed decisions related to food, health, and suitable cooking.
The app also connects to user’s kitchens, instantly sending the correct time and temperature to their compatible Samsung ovens, with over 160,000 recipes offered by the app, users can continually enjoy new cooking experiences, by the end of this year, Samsung will support the app with artificial intelligence features to provide personalized recipes that reflect user’s dietary requirements, such as easily converting recipes to plant-based versions.
Another improvement scheduled for later this year is the app’s integration with Samsung Health, allowing personalized meal plans to align with dietary preferences and requirements, supporting users in achieving their health goals.
In 2024, the Samsung Food app will use photos taken of meals with Vision AI technology to verify nutritional information, identify ingredients, and recommend the best recipes to use them.
TVs:
Samsung maintains its commitment to enhancing the entertainment sector, being the number one TV brand for 17 consecutive years, the company completed its premium screen lineup with the launch of the Neo QLED 8K and 4K Q80C, available in a 98-inch size, while planning to bring its full range of Micro LED screens to Europe by the end of the year, offering stunning contrast and incredible details for immersive viewing experiences, whether for gaming or watching movies.
To commemorate Disney’s centenary, Samsung announced the launch of “The Frame Disney100 Edition,” featuring distinctive platinum silver metal edges from Disney 100 and a unique Mickey Mouse-inspired remote control, the TV comes with 100 pieces of artwork from Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar Animation Studios, Marvel, Lucasfilm, and National Geographic, as well as classic images of Mickey, Minnie, Woody, Cinderella, and more, users can also display their family photos to create a magical home environment.
Launch of the Second Generation of “The Freestyle”:
Samsung also announced the global launch of the second generation of its Freestyle projector, this versatile, multi-purpose portable projector offers a large screen experience anywhere, from the wall to the ceiling.
The Smart Edge Blending feature provides horizontal and vertical screen experiences, allowing two Freestyle 2nd Gen projectors to be connected to provide a panoramic 160-inch viewing experience or a vertical 120-inch display, additionally, with full access to the Samsung Gaming Hub, Freestyle 2nd Gen users can enjoy the biggest games from Samsung’s gaming partners.
In partnership with Xbox and Bethesda Softworks, Samsung offers the next-generation role-playing game, Starfield, set in the stars, available through the Samsung Gaming Hub with an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, eliminating the need for a separate gaming console.
Securing Your Home:
Samsung recognizes the peace of mind that smart technology can provide across generations, security was a topic of research by Samsung, revealing that 54% of people monitor their homes when they are away, 39% feel secure when alone at home with surveillance, and 39% believe that surveillance helps maintain their family’s safety when they are outside the home.
The SmartThings ecosystem includes a group of partners committed to assisting people in keeping their homes and families safe, including Yale, a leading home security brand.
Linus Smart Lock and Smart Opener’s new features enable remote door locking via the app to ensure security and peace of mind for all family members.
