BBC presenter Huw Edwards still suspended amid workplace investigation

BBC presenter Huw Edwards remains suspended amid an internal workplace investigation into allegations of inappropriate messages he sent to younger colleagues.

The investigation is still at the “fact-finding” stage, and there is no imminent conclusion in sight. Edwards is believed to be on his full £435,000-a-year pay.

The allegations against Edwards first emerged in the Sun newspaper in July, which reported that he had paid a 17-year-old for explicit images. The newspaper later retracted the allegation, saying that the individual was actually 20 years old.

However, the BBC has said that it is still investigating Edwards over other allegations, including complaints about his social media messaging habits.

Some BBC staff have said that Edwards has a habit of sending messages to younger members of staff in the newsroom and on Instagram, which have made them feel uncomfortable.

Edwards has not commented on the allegations against him. His wife, Vicky Flind, has said that he has been seeking help for mental health issues.

It is unclear whether Edwards will ever return to the BBC. Some BBC journalists believe that he is unlikely to come back, while others say that he should be given the opportunity to clear his name.

The investigation into Edwards is ongoing. The BBC has said that it will not comment further until the investigation is complete.

In the meantime, Edwards remains suspended from his duties.
