The British newspaper “Telegraaf” reported that two squadrons of American bombers, capable of carrying nuclear weapons, will be stationed in the United Kingdom, in a message that shows that the United States is serious about confronting Russia.
“Telegraaf” indicated that the deployment of US bombers in Britain later this year represents a “new cold war” between the West and Russia.
What does American squadrons contain:-
“Telegraaf” added that the two American squadrons will include F-35 fighters, the most advanced in the world, and will be stationed at Lakenheath base in eastern Britain.
Although Lakenheath Base belongs to the British Royal Air Force, it is currently leased from the US Air Force.
“Telegraaf” quoted a military source as saying, “The F-35 planes will be there and will move (to Britain) by the end of this year”.
What is the capacity of the aircraft in the two American squadrons?
The aircraft in the two American squadrons have the ability to carry tactical nuclear weapons as well as carry out tasks such as confronting fighters in the air and collecting intelligence information.
Military sources told the newspaper that there are plans to deploy 54 “F-35” warplanes at the base instead of “F-15″ fighters, which can carry nuclear weapons but are less advanced.
The sources said: “It is the newest F-35, has greater capabilities, and flies farther in a way that is not detected by radars, which is important if you want to use it to drop nuclear bombs”.
Before 2008, there were about 110 American nuclear bombers stationed at Lakenheath base in Britain, but as the threat of war faded, they were returned to the United States.
