Google has officially announced the addition of several new artificial intelligence features to its video calling and online meeting service, “Meet.”
According to Google’s official website, the new AI assistant, Duet AI, will be present in calls and meetings to provide unique features for users.
The Duet AI assistant allows meetings to be attended on behalf of users when they are unavailable, automatically generates text about discussion points for the meeting, which are visible to all participants for further discussion.
Duet AI can create meeting summaries for future reference, in addition to note-taking and capturing real-time video excerpts, these captured moments can be sent to all participants after the meeting concludes.
It’s worth noting that the competing application Zoom offers similar advantages for note-taking during meetings, in case of joining a meeting late, the smart assistant can quickly summarize the discussion that took place before your arrival.
The new AI assistant can detect foreign languages during the meeting, providing real-time translation, this feature currently supports 18 languages.
Within “Google Meet,” the Duet AI assistant works to enhance the overall appearance during the call, improve audio quality, and optimize lighting conditions.
Some view the new features offered by Duet AI in Google Meet as potentially making meetings more enjoyable and efficient.
Google allows its intelligent assistant to be used by businesses and organizations subscribed to the “Workspace” package for a fee per user.
