Magnitude 7 Quake Strikes Bali Sea, Indonesia; No Tsunami Threat Reported

A powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 7.0 struck the Bali Sea region in Indonesia on Monday as reported by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre. The quake was located approximately 203 kilometers north of Mataram, Indonesia, and occurred at a depth of 516 kilometers below the Earth’s surface.

While the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre recorded the earthquake as a magnitude 7.0 event, the United States Geological Survey estimated its strength at 7.1 on the Richter scale.

Fortunately according to the United States Tsunami Warning System, there is no threat of a tsunami resulting from this earthquake.

At this time, there have been no reports of damages or casualties although some videos capturing the tremors were shared on the social media platform formerly known as Twitter (now called X).
