The Syrian Ministry of Defense stated today that Israeli airstrikes have rendered Aleppo International Airport inoperable. According to a military source quoted by the Syrian News Agency the Israeli enemy carried out aerial aggression from the direction of the Mediterranean Sea west of Latakia targeting Aleppo International Airport at around 4:30 am this Monday.
The source further added that the Israeli airstrikes caused material damage to the airport’s runway resulting in its suspension of services. This is not the first time that Israeli airstrikes have targeted Aleppo International Airport.
On May 2nd, Israel bombarded the airport, which resulted in the death of one individual and several injuries. As reported by SANA, a military source stated, “At approximately 23:35 on May 1st, 2023, the Israeli enemy conducted aerial aggression by firing a barrage of missiles from the southeast of Aleppo.” The source continued, “The strikes targeted Aleppo International Airport and several locations in its vicinity.” The attack led to the killing of a military personnel, injuries to seven others, including two civilians, and inflicted material losses, ultimately rendering the airport inoperable. Earlier, SANA confirmed that the Syrian air defense had successfully intercepted several hostile missiles during the Israeli aggression in the outskirts of Aleppo city.
