Kaspersky Unveils Innovative Password Management Features: Enhanced Security and Expanded Browser Support
In a notable development, Kaspersky has introduced two groundbreaking features to its password management software, Kaspersky Password Manager, the first feature empowers users to securely store unique keys for Two-Factor Authentication (2FA), while the second enables the creation of one-time-use passwords, furthermore, the list of supported browsers has been expanded to include Opera and Opera GX.
The use of password management applications has become indispensable in the face of increasing digital credential requirements and the growing complexity of passwords to fend off malicious attempts by hackers.
According to the “2022 Annual Report on Password Management Software” by Security.Org, the usage of password management apps on mobile devices has surpassed desktop usage levels in 2022, with 84% of US users relying on them for their smartphones.
In general, around 45 million Americans use password management software to protect their online login information, however, two out of every three people still resort to handwritten notes or manual recordings to safeguard their passwords.
New Features in Kaspersky Password Manager:
Kaspersky’s Password Manager now offers an enhanced level of cybersecurity by providing users with verification codes for their 2FA-protected accounts, these codes are used to reinforce the security of vital accounts, safeguarding them even in the event of a breached password.
The second feature allows users to input a unique stored key to create one-time-use login codes, which refresh every 30 seconds, users are required to copy the code from the app and paste it when logging into their accounts, Mac users can also view and manually enter codes for verification, this feature will be available for Windows users in the fall of 2023.
Additionally, Kaspersky’s Password Manager extension now supports web browsers Opera and Opera GX (version 92 and later), this extension assists users in effortlessly managing their personal and sensitive information by automatically saving login credentials and passwords within the same program, it also offers an auto-fill feature for required login details and even facilitates online payments.
In addition to Opera and Opera GX (version 92 and later), the program’s extension is currently available for the following web browsers:
– Mozilla Firefox 65 and later versions.
– Google Chrome 70 and later versions.
– Yandex Browser.
– Microsoft Edge (version 79 and later versions based on Chromium).
– Safari for OS X.
