The Israeli army announced on Sunday that it had successfully intercepted an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) flying in the skies over Gaza. The UAV was observed by Israeli military personnel as it approached Israeli airspace from Gaza.
According to the Israeli army the UAV did not breach Israeli territory and was continuously monitored by the Air Force systems from the moment it took off. The Iron Dome missile defense system was deployed and successfully intercepted the UAV.
The Israeli military clarified that the unmanned aircraft posed no threat to the residents of the Gaza periphery area. As per standard procedure, warning systems were activated to ensure the safety and security of the region.
